Who we are

StorageBidAU ("we", "us", "our") is an early-stage Australian platform connecting independent storage operators with people who need storage. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and how we handle it, in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

Right now, StorageBidAU is in early access. Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:

• Your email address and password if you create an account, handled securely by our authentication provider (Supabase).
• Standard technical information, such as browser type and access times, logged automatically by our hosting provider.
• Any information you provide directly, such as facility details if you list as an operator, or messages you send us.
• If you list or bid on a storage unit auction: the listing details and contact information (email, and phone if provided) an operator submits, and the bid amounts and timestamps placed by bidders. Auction listings, bid amounts, and bid history are publicly visible to anyone browsing that listing, since that's how auctions work.
• If you list a unit as an operator: a payment method saved via our payment processor, Stripe, so we can charge our commission if the unit sells. We only ever receive a reference to your saved card from Stripe, never your actual card number — that's held by Stripe directly.

There's no fee to list a unit, and we don't process payment for the unit itself — that happens directly between the buyer and the operator. We only charge a commission to the operator's saved card if a sale is reported.

How we use it

We use your information to run your account, respond to enquiries, and let you know about relevant updates, such as when we launch new features or expand to your area. We won't use it for any other purpose without telling you first.

Sharing your information

We don't sell your personal information. We use trusted service providers — such as Supabase for account authentication — to help run the site, and they process your information only on our behalf and under their own security obligations.

Storage and security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access. No online system is completely secure, but we aim to keep your data no longer than necessary for the purpose it was collected.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the information we hold about you, or close your account, at any time by emailing hello@storagebidau.com.au.

Changes to this policy

As StorageBidAU grows from early access into a full marketplace, this policy will be updated to reflect what we collect and how we use it at that stage. We'll update the "last updated" date above whenever that happens.
